Form: Usually starts with round or flat bar stock.
The material is cut to size using band saws or CNC cutting machines.
For high-strength or high-volume production, the clevis may be hot forged to achieve better grain structure and strength.
This involves heating the metal and shaping it using dies.
CNC Milling/Turning: Used to machine the prongs (fork arms), shaft hole, and thread.
A lathe is used if the part has a cylindrical shank.
A milling machine or CNC center shapes the fork slots and flat surfaces.
Hole Drilling: Holes are drilled for the clevis pin using a drill press or CNC drill.
Slot Cutting: The forked ends are cut using end mills or slotting tools.
